New preprint on how the lectin domain of LORE binds its fatty acid ligands

Lin-Jie Shu and colleagues identify the second G-type lectin domain of LORE as the ligand binding domain, and describe a flexible loop that lets the receptor distinguish agonistic from antagonistic 3-hydroxy fatty acids. Joint work with the group of Antonella Di Pizio at the Leibniz Institute for Food Systems Biology.

Despite, plants are mostly healthy as they have evolved efficient surveillance and defence systems to ward off microbial invaders. Pathogens, in turn, evolved virulence strategies to evade recognition or suppress defence responses, while plants evolve new recognition strategies. Hence, an evolutionary arms-race exists between pathogens and their potential host plants. We want to understand the molecular mechanisms of plant immune sensing and immune responses as well as microbial adaptation and virulence strategies to support plant breeding and biotechnology in keeping pace with the adaptation of pathogens and in strengthening plant health.

Software and resources from the lab, free to use for everyone.

Assay Calculator

Open the Assay Calculator

The Assay Calculator turns the raw output of a plate reader into the figures and numbers of a plant immunity experiment. It handles two assays: aequorin luminescence measurements of cytosolic calcium, normalized to the luminescence left in each well, and measurements of reactive oxygen species, blanked against the control wells of the same genotype.
